As I was rummaging through piles of online detritus being foisted off as news these days, I happened to run across a recently-published article on an Arizona-based NPR affiliate website. This article summarized a Tea Party gathering where the sheriff of Maricopa County, (think “Phoenix”), Joe M. Arpaio, claimed his office was still investigating the origin of Barack H. Obama’s birth certificate. According to the article, this super-sleuth claims the basis of his investigation is “…[potential] identity theft and the forging of government documents.”

Yeah. Really.

Oh, right, a quick web search revealed this sheriff recently lost a contempt of court lawsuit brought by the ACLU, with an expected legal tab of some $70+ million dollars, all of which will be borne by Arizona taxpayers – yikes!

Holy sh*t, what a whacko!

I guess “America’s toughest sheriff”, (self-described, of course), doesn’t completely understand the rule of law, hence the ACLU’s involvement, (and subsequent lawsuit).

Like I said, what a f*ckin’ whacko!

…in another ironic twist, he’s up for re-election too. That’s right folks, this clown has been [re]elected seven – yes seven – times! Apparently, he’s the front-runner in the current race as well. Wait a minute! This makes perfect sense! Isn’t this the state Sarah Palin called “home” back in 2008? Isn’t this the state where a former governor, (Jan Brewer), fought tooth-and-nail for an anti-immigration bill costing Arizona ba-jillions in lost tourist revenue? Yes, of course it is.

I pity the residents of this intellectually-parched state – so little water, so many bigots…
